Oil drilling equipment is divided into systems such as rotation, lifting, circulation, power and transmission, and control according to their functions.
Rotation System
The main equipment is the turntable installed on the drilling rig's wellhead, which rotates to drive the drill string and drill bit to drill. When using downhole power tools to drive the drill bit, the turntable is used to bear the counter-torque.
Lifting System
A set of lifting equipment composed of a winch, derrick, overhead crane, traveling block, large hook, wire rope, etc. The winch is mainly used for raising and lowering drilling tools, casing, and controlling drilling pressure during drilling. The derrick is used to place the overhead crane and suspend the traveling block, large hook, and other lifting equipment and tools. It is also used for raising, lowering, and storing the drill string. The overhead crane and traveling block form a set of compound pulley devices, which are used in oil drilling equipment to reduce the tension on the winch's wire rope. The number of wire ropes for large and medium-sized drilling rigs is generally 8 to 12 strands.
Circulation System
Composed of mud pumps, high-pressure mud pipelines, hoses, faucets, drill strings, and mud solid control equipment. Its function is to maintain mud circulation, wash the well bottom, and transfer the energy of the injected high-pressure mud to the well bottom.
Solid Control Equipment
Used to remove useless solid phase particles from the returned mud in the well. Commonly used equipment includes vibrating screens, sand separators, mud separators, gas separators, and centrifuges. In the late 1970s, automatic mud mixing systems began to be used in conjunction with well control devices, allowing for reliable control of the wellbore at any time.It can automatically maintain a constant mud density. When signs of a blowout occur, it can automatically adjust the mud density and other properties.
Power and Transmission System
Oil drilling equipment includes power engines and transmission units. The power engines are mainly diesel engines, electric motors, or gas turbines. The transmission units include mechanical transmission such as chains, belts, gears, hydraulic transmission, and electric transmission, which transmit power to the winch, turntable, mud pump, and other working machines..
